Blood Sugar and Cancer Risk:
"When comparing the highest quintile of blood glucose to the lowest, there was an 18% increase in the relative risk of cancer and a 50% increase in the relative risk of fatal cancer....The researchers suggest that their study provides "strong evidence that high blood glucose is a risk factor for cancer" and that "associations between

Calorie Counts off in restaurant and frozen food: According to a study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, prepared foods may contain an average of 8% more calories than their package labels specify and restaurant meals may even be18% higher. Susan Roberts, professor of nutrition at Tufts University tested 29 restaurants and 10 frozen foods. Federal Regulations allow the calorie count to be off by 20%. What can you expect when you are between 57 and 85?: The National Social Life, Health and Aging Project is providing some answers about emotional and physical health of seniors based on results from about 3000 study participants. 75.7% of people ages 65 to 74 are either highly overweight or obese, 58.4% have hypertension, 21.9% Diabetes, 13.4% Cancer. Vegetarians Get Good News on Bone Health: A new metaanalysis of nine previous studies concludes that, although vegetarians and vegans do have slightly weaker bonemineral density (BMD) than omnivores, “the magnitude of the association is not clinically significant.” This is based on data from 869 women and 1,880 men. Vegetarians BMD was on average 4% lower than the BMD of people who also eat meat, while vegans averaged 6% lower.
